About Dukascopy

Dukascopy offers access to the forex market using an ECN trading model. Dukascopy’s headquarters is located in Geneva, Switzerland, but there are other offices in Zurich, Riga, Hong Kong, Kiev, Moscow and Kuala Lumpur. Dukascopy is regulated by the Swiss Ministry of Finance, and operates as a bank and as a brokerage firm. The Dukascopy Group maintains two forex brokerage brands:

a)    Dukascopy Bank SA offers direct access to the Swiss Foreign Exchange Marketplace and services banks, hedge funds, other institutions and investors.

b)    Dukascopy Europe IBS AS, which operates asan EU-licensed investment brokerage company. 

Offers and Promotions

Dukascopy offers its clients a bonus amount of 10% of the client’s account equity. This amount may be increased by the addition of more capital. However, the bonus conditions attached to a Dukascopy account are more stringent than with other brokers. Bonuses must be covered by trade volume which is 30,000 X the total account equity for it to be withdrawn. This must be covered within one year of getting the bonus.

The maximum bonus amount that can be awarded is $50,000. 

Trading Platform Features

Five platforms types are available on Dukascopy. They include:

a) A Java-based platform, which is designed for manual trading only.

c) A web-based platform.

c) The JForex platform, which used for automated and chart trading. This platform comes with an API for traders to build strategies, EAs and indicators, as well as to use built-in charts.

d) Mobile trading platforms for all smartphones.

e) MT4 Bridge which connects Dukascopy’s ECN facilities to the MT4 platform. The MT4 platform is not available on Dukascopy. It has to be sourced from a third-party, and then Dukascopy’s bridge used to plug in to such a third party MT4 client.

f) Dukascopy Bank SA SWFX Trading Application for advanced traders.

Account Types and Information

Two types of accounts can be opened with Dukascopy.

a)    The ECN account with Dukascopy via DUkascopy Bank SA. This account is used mainly for institutional clients, as well as for retail clients who can afford to setup accounts with an initial deposit of $5000. Only Swiss clients can open this account type with less than $5000.

b)    The Dukascopy Europe account is meant for retail forex trading under ECN conditions, with minimum deposit requirement of $100. 

Special Features

There are several features on Dukascopy that traders can take advantage of:

a)    Contests: Dukascopy has one of the largest array of contests that traders can participate in. There is a strategy contest, in which traders can pit their strategies against those of other traders to see which will come out on top. There are also trading contests as well as article contests. The prize pool for contests is more than a million dollars.

b)    Dukascopy also operates as a bank. Clients can therefore use Dukascopy as an opportunity to open a Swiss banking account, and get access to e-banking, online money exchange and credit card facilities.

c)     Dukascopy has recently added binary options to its tradable assets, making it possible for traders who know how to trade this market to ply their trade there from the same forex account as before.

d)    PAMM account facilities. 

Deposits and Withdrawals

The following methods are available to traders to make Deposits and withdrawals on Dukascopy:

a)    Bank Wire

b)    Credit Card/Debit Card

c)     Bank Guarantees: Minimum deposit with bank guarantees is $100,000.

d)    Swiss Custodian Bank Account. Minimum deposit with this method is $250,000. This allows the trader to trade the forex market straight off this account without having to move funds around in deposits and withdrawals.

Minimum Deposit

The minimum deposit depends on account type and funding method. An account with Dukascopy Europe attracts a minimum deposit of 100 USD, while the minimum deposit on a Dukascopy Bank SA account is 5,000 USD. The minimum trade size is 1 micro-lot for forex, 1 ounce for gold and 50 ounces for silver.

Withdrawal limits only exist for credit card withdrawals, which is pegged at $10,000 of 10,000 CHF and equivalents in other currencies.

Winnings from the various forex contests are usually deposited into a trader’s live account on Dukascopy SA.
